Abstract
The invention is a conductor-carrier arrangement (10) for conducting one or several types of signals, one of which is an optical signal. The arrangement consists of a substrate (13) and at least one optical conductor guide (11) for the optical signal on the substrate. The optical guide has a covering layer (12) consisting of a material with different characteristics than the optical guide material. The optical guide is placed on the substrate (13) during the production of the substrate (13).
Development at IMEGO
Together with Glass Research Institute (GLAFO), we have synthesized two glass materials (11 and 12) with matching refractive indices (n1 and n2) and matching thermal-expansion coefficients that also matche the thermal properties of Low Temperature Cofired Ceramic (LTCC), which we suggest be used as the preferred carrier (13) for the arrangement.
